How to open chests on the Lu4 server
The main difficulty with chests is telling which chest is in front of you and which key opens it.
How to tell chests apart
| Chest | What it looks like | Key |
|---|---|---|
| Common | metal plates with a copper, slightly purple tint | common |
| Uncommon | metal plates are fully grey | uncommon |
| Rare | gold details | rare |
Rare is easy to spot. People usually mix up Common and Uncommon: the metal tint differs, but not by much.
Which key fits
Update · October 3, 2026
A higher key opens a lower chest, a lower key does not open a higher one.
Each key opens only its own type of chest. A higher key used to open lower chests too, and players complained about it a lot: an expensive key was wasted on a cheap chest. That is no longer possible — a rare key will not open a Common chest.
| Key | What it opens |
|---|---|
| common | Common only |
| uncommon | Uncommon only |
| rare | Rare only |
A key that does not fit is not used up.
If you are not sure which chest it is
Picking the wrong key costs nothing — a key that does not fit stays with you. If you cannot tell Common from Uncommon, just try them in turn: the common key first, then the uncommon one.
What is inside a chest
The reward depends on the level of the character who opens the chest. The level of the location and of the monsters around it does not matter.
- Consumables: HP, MP and CP elixirs, Soulshots and Spiritshots, scrolls.
- Crafting: resources, recipes and parts.
- Valuables: ready-made equipment of your grade and rare spellbooks for archers, fighters and mages — Spellbook: Archer's Will, Spellbook: Fighter's Will, Spellbook: Magician's Will.
Consumables drop most often, but there is a chance of something valuable too.
Adena and experience from a chest
Besides items, a chest gives adena and experience — a fixed amount based on the level of whoever opens it.
Data from the server administration:
| Level | Adena | Experience |
|---|---|---|
| 67 | 20 500 | 125 000 |
| 68 | 21 500 | 130 000 |
| 69 | 22 500 | 135 000 |
| 70 | 23 000 | 140 000 |
| 71 | 23 000 | 140 000 |
| 72 | 23 500 | 140 000 |
| 73 | 23 500 | 145 000 |
| 74 | 24 000 | 150 000 |
| 75 | 24 000 | 150 000 |
The server developers explain it this way: the reward equals the loot from a set number of monsters of your level, and it has a cap it approaches as your level grows. That is why neighbouring levels can get the same amount — for example, a chest gives the same at level 70 and 71.
Our estimate for levels below 67:
| Level | Adena | Experience |
|---|---|---|
| 20 | ~400–580 | ~1 500–2 300 |
| 25 | ~580–840 | ~2 300–3 500 |
| 30 | ~850–1 200 | ~3 500–5 400 |
| 35 | ~1 200–1 800 | ~5 400–8 200 |
| 40 | ~1 800–2 600 | ~8 300–13 000 |
| 45 | ~2 600–3 800 | ~13 000–19 000 |
| 50 | ~3 900–5 600 | ~19 000–29 000 |
| 55 | ~5 700–8 200 | ~30 000–45 000 |
| 60 | ~8 300–12 000 | ~46 000–69 000 |
| 62 | ~9 600–14 000 | ~54 000–82 000 |
| 64 | ~11 000–16 000 | ~64 000–97 000 |
| 66 | ~13 000–19 000 | ~76 000–115 000 |
How we estimated it: at levels 67–74 a chest gives as much adena and experience as roughly 3–4 monsters of your level. We applied the same ratio to the average loot from monsters of each level in our database. This is an estimate, not server data — the real reward may fall outside the range. If you open a chest at another level, tell us what you got and we will refine the table.
Good to know
- The reward is not shared with the party. Everything goes straight into the inventory of whoever opened the chest.
- Where chests appear. The location is picked at random, but inside it the chest has fixed spawn points and appears at one of them.
Update · October 3, 2026
Attacking a chest gives you a PvP flag.
Only a Rare chest gives a PvP flag now — and only if you hit it. All chests used to flag you, even when simply opened. Common and Uncommon chests no longer flag; open a Rare one with a key, not by attacking it.
How much keys cost on the market
Market prices, adena per key:
| Key | Gamma: sell | Gamma: buy | Fresh: sell | Fresh: buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | ~280 000 | ~180 000 | ~300 000 | ~180 000 |
| Uncommon | ~1 080 000 | ~775 000 | ~1 000 000 | ~690 000 |
| Rare | ~2 650 000 | ~2 000 000 | ~1 950 000 | ~1 160 000 |
Almost the whole price of a key is mana crystals: the resources and adena for the craft cost dozens of times less.
Where key imprints and mana crystals come from
Key Imprints and mana crystals drop from regular monsters of level 20–75. The chances are the same for every monster and do not depend on level or location. They do not come from spoil or from raid bosses.
A monster drops at most one imprint and at most one crystal, always one piece. First the game decides whether an item drops at all, then which of the three.
Key Imprints and mana crystals cannot be transferred: you cannot buy them on the market or get them from another player. You have to farm them yourself. Finished keys, however, can be transferred — they are bought and sold.
Key Imprint — 195 monsters
Group chance: 0.125% — the chance that a monster drops one of the imprints.
| Item | Chance within the group | Final chance | Final chance with premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 70.42% | 0.088% | 0.132% | |
| 21.13% | 0.0264% | 0.0396% | |
| 8.45% | 0.0106% | 0.0159% |
Mana crystals — 292 monsters
Group chance: 0.55% — the chance that a monster drops one of the crystals.
| Item | Chance within the group | Final chance | Final chance with premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80% | 0.44% | 0.66% | |
| 15% | 0.0825% | 0.124% | |
| 5% | 0.0275% | 0.0413% |
How many kills on average
| What | Without premium | With premium |
|---|---|---|
| Any Key Imprint | 1 per 800 monsters | 1 per 533 |
| 1 per ~9 470 | 1 per ~6 300 | |
| Any crystal | 1 per ~182 | 1 per ~121 |
| 1 per ~3 640 | 1 per ~2 420 |
Since the chances are the same for all monsters, there is no point in looking for “special” ones. Farm the monsters you kill fastest and that match your level: a level gap cuts the drop chance.
Crafting keys
A Key Imprint is a key recipe: with it, a key is crafted from resources and mana crystals.
Each recipe is needed only once — to learn it.
- The recipe is learned from the dwarf Ferris in the Aden forge. Each of the three keys needs its own Key Imprint.
- A learned recipe stays with you for good, but keys can only be crafted at Ferris.
- Hand spare Key Imprints in to him as well: about 10 000 adena each. The reward is small, but recipes cannot be transferred, so there is nothing else to do with them.
- A finished key, unlike the recipe and the crystals, can be transferred: keys are readily bought and sold.
